Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday presented the second Union Budget of the Modi 2.0 government. Sitharaman, in her maiden Budget speech, announced major tax reliefs for the salaried class and reduced the tax rate for different slabs for an individual income of up to Rs 15 lakh per annum, if a taxpayer opts for foregoing exemptions and deduction. Sitharaman had cut short her Budget speech in Lok Sabha as she felt unwell after speaking for a record 160 minutes. However, this was the longest Budget speech by any finance minister.
