HYPERBUSS connectors are a high-performance, cost-effective solution used in a variety of interconnect applications where a common “bussed” electrical pathway is required WILMINGTON, Mass., Oct. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Heilind Electronics, a leading global distributor of electronic components and authorized distributor for Amphenol Sine Systems, introduces their new AT and ATV Series HYPERBUSS receptacle connectors. The HYPERBUSS family of receptacle connectors is used in a variety of interconnect applications requiring a common “bussed” electrical pathway. The buss mechanism utilizes conductors to collect electrical power from incoming feeders, then distributes them to outgoing feeders. The AT Series is available in 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 position receptacles, while the ATV Series is available in keyed 18 position layouts. Each connector type uses a rectangular, thermoplastic housing and is intermateable with respective industry standard connectors. Other features include a wedgelock for contact alignment and retention, as well as an integrated latch for mating. Both options are IP67-rated in mated condition, offering superior environmental sealin...

PPS board to consider suspending and studying ‘walk-through’ classroom observations – News – Journal Star

PEORIA — Two weeks after a spirited debate on the value of daily administrator “walk-through” classroom observations, the Peoria Public Schools board will vote Monday on whether to suspend the practice for the rest of the semester. School board member Chase Klaus raised concerns about the practice at the board meeting on Oct. 14, repeating criticism he heard from teachers in the district. Beginning in August, district administrators, including school building principals and assistant principals, and central office administrators, have been required to observe and take notes in five district classrooms a day. Each visit was supposed to last about five minutes with the collected data being compiled to identify trends in classrooms that could be addressed to help meet educational goals. Some teachers found the visits to be both excessive in number and demoralizing. Superintendent Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat strongly argued the value of the program in response to board criticism. Proposed action on the “learning walks,” as they are called by the administration, is on Monday’s school board agenda. The board is expected to decide whether “to suspend th...

Singapore — South Korea and Indonesia have reached a preliminary consensus that will see the elimination of tariffs on steel products and automobile parts, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday. South Korean trade minister Yoo Myung-Hee and his Indonesian counterpart Enggartiasto Lukita announced the in-principle agreement at Tangerang, Indonesia, it said. Their agreement deals with the Korea-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or KI-CEPA, which is equivalent to a free trade agreement but also focuses on a broader scope of economic cooperation. Under the deal, South Korea and Indonesia will eliminate tariffs on 95.5% and 93% of products, respectively. But major agricultural prod...

How Do Service Centers Add Value in Today’s Market? Steel Warehouse, Berlin and Chicago Tube and Iron Weigh In

I had the pleasure of attending the S&P Global Platts Steel Markets North America conference held recently in Chicago. The general outlook at the conference for steel markets in the year ahead was notably optimistic, although each of the initial speakers differed in who and/or what the audience should pay attention to in the coming months and years. Conference keynote speaker, Herb Black, CEO of American Iron & Metal Company had his eyes on Turkey and its burgeoning scrap market. Timna Tanners, Managing Director of U.S. Metals and Mining at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, encouraged the audience to focus on China, while Beth Ann Bovino, Chief U.S. Economist for S&P Global Ratings, spoke to present macroeconomic conditions with a watchful eye on the current administration and potential post-election policy changes. With a cautiously hopeful tone set — and others hearkening back with similar sentiments throughout the day — the final presentations within “Steel Service Centers—Value-Added Products in Competitive Markets” from Roy Berlin, President of Berlin Metals; Donald McNeeley, President of Chicago Tube & Iron; and Michael Lerman, President of Steel Warehouse wer...

FSP Dagger Pro 650W Power Supply Review: Compact and Strong

If you don’t require a pair of EPS connectors, there are better options in the market for the same price, or even less. The FSP Dagger Pro 650W ($125 on Newegg) has enough capacity to power a high-end GPU and a potent processor, like a Ryzen 3000 CPU and an RTX 2080. But not all the problems that we found in its predecessor, the Dagger 600W, have been addressed. For starters, the efficiency of the 5VSB rail remains low and the ripple suppression at +12V is not good enough. Another major downside is the increased noise output, despite the semi-passive operation (which doesn’t last long). For less money you can pick up the Corsair SF600, which outperforms the Dagger Pro unit in every area. That said, the SF600 doesn’t have a pair of EPS (supplemental board power) connectors, so it will limit your mainboard selection. FSP has upgraded its Dagger line with two new models, featuring 550W and 650W capacities. The strongest Dagger unit, with model number SDA2-650, will be evaluated in this review. Besides increased capacity, which doesn’t look so impressive any more since there are SFX units with 700W and 750W capacities, the SDA2-650 is equipped with a 92mm, do...

CNC machining is a common industrial process with specific design features that work best. Learn the

CNC machining is a common industrial process with specific design features that work best. Learn the ins and outs of CNC design as we break them down in this detailed guide. Computer numerical control (CNC) machining is a subtractive manufacturing method using a number of high-speed, precise machines to achieve desired structures. Basically, parts of a block of material are gradually stripped away using a variety of methods, including cutting, drilling, beveling, and slotting, among others. As with all manufacturing processes, better results can be obtained by accommodating the specifics of CNC machining into the design stage. Following a brief review of the kinds of CNC machines, this article will go into detail on a number of design aspects. For all the above machines, material is removed from a solid block of metal or plastic, with various high-speed cutting tools performing the different processes required. The majority of tools used for CNC processes have a cylindrical shank with a specific tip shape and a limited overall cutting length. As the material is removed from the workpiece, the geometry of the tool is transferred onto the part. This means internal features of a CN...

DR MICHAEL MOSLEY explains how sleep patterns affect the appetite

Trying to lose weight? Well, one of the things you must do if you want a slimmer and healthier body is to get enough sleep. For most people that means seven to eight hours a night. If you try to get by on less, as many people do, then this will mess with your mood and your body’s ability to control your blood sugar levels, which can lead to over-eating. To see what impact cutting back on sleep can have, a couple of years ago I took part in an experiment organised by Dr Eleanor Scott, who works at the University of Leeds. We recruited a group of healthy volunteers and, under her supervision, fitted them with activity monitors and continuous glucose monitors, so we could see what was happening to their blood sugar levels. Well, one of the things you must do if you want a slimmer and healthier body is to get enough sleep (stock image) Then we asked our volunteers to sleep normally for two nights (so we had a baseline to work from), have two nights where they went to bed three hours later than normal, followed by two nights where they could sleep for as long as they liked. Naturally enough, being an avid self-experimenter, I joined in. I was unpleasantly surprised by just how much ...
